Independence & initiative

The Sport Lived team will provide loads of help when you're looking for part-time work (check out our working overseas section) but ultimately it's down to you to get out there and make it happen. Being able to show a prospective employer that you've managed to find, secure and maintain a job in an overseas country is highly impressive.

Teamwork

Whether you're playing, coaching or training hard at an academy, teamwork is at the heart of the Sport Lived experience. Living and training alongside a new group of mates is a great way to develop strong social skills and show that you're a real team player.

Personal development

Sport Lived helps individuals on the journey to become mature and independent minded with strong inter-personal skills. Joining a new sports club, living in an overseas city with different people and securing a job are exciting challenges that will test your character leaving you ready to tackle whatever lies ahead in life.

Work experience

Living overseas is a great time to think about gaining work experience in a field you're considering as a career. Sport Lived participants have volunteered in hospitals, law firms and newspaper offices. Whilst this work is usually unpaid, it demonstrates commitment, and enterprise. It's also a great way to 'try before you buy' when it comes to career choices.

Coaching

On our coaching programmes you'll be set up with a paid coaching placement meaning your employment is arranged before you leave home. Working with a team of youngsters is lots of fun but also a great way to develop and demonstrate leadership skills. You will need to be resourceful, organised and enthusiastic to keep the kids in-line and working with a team is the perfect way to have fun and boost your CV at the same time.
