Mentoring and support

Part of the family

Our team of local overseas mentors play a crucial role in the Sport Lived experience. Mentors offer support throughout your time overseas providing a reliable, friendly point of contact and organising regular social events. They’re also reassuring both for participants and family back home.

Settling in

Your mentor will be in touch around 4 weeks prior to departure to answer any questions you might have before leaving home. Upon arrival your mentor will be on-hand, particularly during the first few weeks of your programme whilst you’re settling into life in a new city.

As well as general support and assistance, your mentor will:

  • Organise an introductory social event for all participants in the city
  • Get you sorted out with a bank account and tax registration if you’re working overseas
  • Show you how to travel around the city and find your club training ground
  • Ensure you’re familiar with local medical facilities and get you registered with health authorities where necessary
  • Provide guidance on finding work
