Sport Lived offers you the once in a lifetime opportunity to play cricket in Australia.  Australia must be any cricket player’s dream destination. The summer climate is perfect for cricket, the facilities on offer are outstanding and the organisation of club cricket excellent.

Our cricket programmes provide you with the chance to spend 6 months living and playing cricket in a vibrant sporting environment. The programmes run from September to March. We recommend that players arrive in September in order to settle in and participate in pre-season training and matches before league games begin in early October.

We run cricket programmes to all the main cities in Australia –  Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. In each city we have handpicked the best cricket clubs for people to join who have excellent coaching, facilities and top social scenes.  A number of the clubs we have affiliations with have state and international cricketers providing you with the opportunity to play and train with some of Australia’s leading players. 

Most cricket clubs have 5 – 7 senior men’s teams, train 2-3 evenings a week and play matches at the weekends.  Whilst in Australia you will play a mixture of two day and one day matches.  Two day matches are played over consecutive Saturdays with between 70-80 overs being bowled on each day.  One day matches are usually 50 overs per side with most one day games being played on Sundays. 

As cricket clubs in Australia have lots of teams they can accommodate players of all abilities.  Clubs also organise regular social events throughout the season including new players’ nights, beach BBQs, fancy dress parties and days out watching state and international games.  Some clubs also organise pre-season tours and training camps usually to either the country or one of the other main cities in Australia.  As well as being amazing fun these trips are also a fantastic opportunity to bond with your team mates and visit new areas of the country.

Several of the cricket clubs we have affiliations with have strong female sections and we organise for a number of female players to go to Australia each year.  Most clubs have 2-3 women’s teams, with their first team playing the highest standard of club cricket in Australia.  If you’re selected for your club’s first team you will play with and against state and international players providing you with the opportunity to test yourself against the ‘cream of the crop’ down under. 

In each city in Australia Sport Lived employ staff who are available 24/7 throughout your programme.  Our staff show you how to travel from your accommodation to your club, provide assistance in finding work and generally help you to get settled in your new home city.    They also organise social events which usually include drinks during the first week of your programme, fancy dress Christmas party and days out at sporting events such as the Boxing Day Test Match.

Whilst in Australia, you will live in 4 star city centre apartments with Sport Lived participants playing cricket and other summer sports such as rowing, tennis and swimming.  Most people stay in 2 bedroom apartments and everyone lives in the same complex providing you with a ready made group of friends as soon as you arrive.  Living in the city means you’ll be near nightlife and numerous places where you can work.  It also means you’ll be near public transport so it will be easy to get to your club to attend training and matches.
