Netball is Australia’s most popular women’s sport.  The sport’s popularity and excellent infrastructure have enabled the Aussies to be one of the world’s best teams and the most successful Commonwealth country. 

Our netball programmes provide you with the chance to spend time living and playing netball in a vibrant sporting environment.  We arrange for people to play netball in all the main cities in Australia.  Most of our programmes last for approximately 23 weeks from March – late August.  We also run a 12 week programme to Brisbane from March - June and we run an 8 week netball programme to Brisbane during July and August ideal for university students or those not taking a gap year.  As well as having outstanding netball facilities Brisbane also has warm weather throughout the year so you’re guaranteed loads of sunshine whenever you choose to go.

We have handpicked the best netball clubs for people to join who have excellent coaching, facilities and top social scenes.  Most clubs have 8-10 teams so they can accommodate players of all abilities. Whether you have aspirations of playing internationally or play netball purely for fun there will be a suitable team.

Players usually have one match and one training session per week.  Depending on the team you’re selected to play for there might also be additional gym and fitness sessions.  Most clubs enter social teams in mid week competitions giving you the opportunity to play lots of games during your time overseas.  Clubs organise regular social events throughout the season including new players’ nights, beach BBQs, quiz nights and days out watching state and international games. 

Most clubs have large junior sections and we encourage all Sport Lived participants to get involved in coaching juniors during their time in Australia.  Coaching is lots of fun and a great way to develop key skills such as leadership, communication and organisational skills.  In addition, we also have an excellent relationship with the top sporting schools in each city and can help players to find paid netball coaching work in schools. 

During your programme you will live in 4 star city centre apartments with other Sport Lived participants.  Most people stay in 2 bedroom apartments and everyone lives in the same complex providing you with a ready made group of friends as soon as you arrive.  Living in the city means you’re near nightlife and numerous places where you can work.  It also means you’re near public transport making it easy for you to get to your club to attend training and matches. 

You will receive a hand book which has lots of useful information e.g. how to open a bank account, get a mobile phone, apply for a tax file number etc.  These are distributed at the pre departure briefing which is held approximately 6 weeks prior to your departure.
