Play Rugby League in Australia

If rugby league is your sport then there can surely be no better destination to play it than in Australia. Rugby League is one of Australia's most popular Winter sports.  It has massive appeal throughout the country, particularly along the east coast in Queensland and New South Wales.

Sport Lived arranges for young people to play rugby league in Sydney and Brisbane between March – late August.  We also run an 12 week rugby league programme to Brisbane between March and June and an 8 week programme during July and August ideal for university students or those not taking a gap year.  As well as having outstanding rugby league clubs Brisbane also has warm weather throughout the year so you’re guaranteed loads of sunshine whenever you choose to go.

In Sydney and Brisbane we have handpicked the best rugby league clubs who have excellent coaching, facilities and top social scenes.  Most of the clubs have 2-3 senior men’s teams and 1-2 colt’s teams (U19).  Some club’s first grade team play in the tier below the NRL and are feeder clubs to NRL teams such as the Melbourne Storm.  If you’re not selected for one of your clubs senior men’s or colt’s teams, the clubs usually have 5-8 feeder clubs from the city and surrounding area with whom you’ll train and play matches.  As we have affiliations with lots of clubs in Brisbane and Sydney who play at different levels, we can arrange for players of all abilities to play rugby league in Australia. 

You will live in 4 star city centre apartments with Sport Lived participants playing rugby and other sports such as hockey, netball, football and swimming.  Most people stay in 2 bedroom apartments and everyone lives in the same complex providing you with a ready made group of friends as soon as you arrive.  Living in the city means you’re near nightlife and numerous places where you can work.  It also means you’re near public transport making it easy for you to get to your club to attend training and matches. 

Sport Lived employ staff in each city who are available 24/7 throughout your programme.  Our staff will show you how to travel from your accommodation to your club, open a bank account, look for work and generally help you to get settled in Australia.  They also organise regular social events for all Sport Lived players and coaches which usually include introductory drinks during the first week of your programme, beach BBQs, fancy dress parties and nights out at major sporting events.  We usually organise tickets for the State of Origin rugby league games played between Queensland and New South Wales which are fiercely contested and exciting to watch.
