Swim in New Zealand

Sport Lived offers you a wonderful opportunity to swim with a club in New Zealand for the duration of a southern hemisphere season.  We organise for people to swim with clubs in Auckland where our programmes run from September – March or March – August.  We also run an 8 week swimming programme during July and August, ideal for university students or those not taking a gap year. 

Given the country’s size New Zealand has produced a number of world class swimmers including Danyon Loader, winner of the 200 and 400 metre freestyle gold medals at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.  Sport Lived has affiliations with excellent swimming clubs who have been carefully selected for their top facilities and coaching. Most clubs have 8-10 squads.  These squads usually include International, National, State, Open Ocean, Developmental and Intermediate squads. The squads generally train six to ten times each week and take part in competitions at the weekends.  As clubs have lots of members and a variety of squads they are able to accommodate swimmers of all abilities. 

Whilst in New Zealand you will live in 4 star city centre apartments with other Sport Lived participants providing a ready made group of friends as soon as you arrive.  Most people stay in 2 bedroom apartments and everyone lives in the same complex.  Living in the city means you’re near nightlife and numerous places where you can work.  It also means you’re near public transport making it easy to get to your club for training and competitions.  Most of the swimming clubs are located close to the city centre. 

Sport Lived employ staff in New Zealand who will show you how to travel from your accommodation to your club, open a bank account and generally help you to get settled in your new home city.  Our staff also organise regular social events and are available 24/7 throughout your programme.
